Emphemeral Flower by ~leesaf: the suggester said, "I have seen a lot of smoke shots while browsing through DA. However, I find the similarity of this smoke formation to a lilly quite eye-catching. Plus, the composition of the shot balances the main topic and enhances the illusion of the flower. Quite impressive work!" (Suggested by ~madilar and Featured by ^opioid)

I love the way you do these smoke pictures (you should show me how sometime).
There seems to be a white speck on the right side, did you mean to do that?
As for the smoke pictures, all you have to do is remind me when I am there this summer or something, it is not really all that hard. You just have to have a black background, some backlighting, and some incense.
Oh yeah, and patience.

Since you're after advanced critique, I'd add that the highlights on the left are blown out; if that was intentional, it's abstract anyway... but if I were to take it, it'd push the shutter speed up a stop to get a smoother, less harsh tone in those areas.
It is one thing to know that a fixed lens is better and faster, but it quite another to force yourself to put down the zoom, because the zoom lets you be lazy.
I pulled it out for this because I had need of the larger aperature because smoke is always very dark and it becomes hard to freeze the motion with the other lens I was using. I do like this lens though, it is very cheap but for the price is a a very good tool.
