Church of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venezia IT

This church was built by Andrea Palladio in 1566, and remains one of the more impressive examples of both his work and the Northern Italian religious buildings of the time, at least that I saw. This was a chance capture of a trio talking to one of the Benedictine monks who operate the church, all four huddled in a narrow patch of sunlight streaming in from the western windows trying to forget how cold some of those old churches can be during the winter.

I spent a couple hours here at the church sketching the facade and such, but ironically I like this picture that I snapped right before leaving the best. I might post up some of the sketches though, just to give a more complete idea of the place.

I like it. It has a very calming feeling to it.

Yeah, I tried to treat it as a traditional painting in a way, so that somewhat static nature makes it feel a bit calming to me. I'm not sure if that is what you saw too though. Thanks, I am glad you like it.

Yeah I agree that it has a really nice feeling but the quality is more than horrible :)

"I tried to treat it as a traditional painting in a way"

this reminds me of the scene in the church at the beginning of 28 weeks later. not just for the superficial fact that they are both in a church with some filtered light, but also for that very fact that at first, the stillness of that scene rendered it almost indistinguishable as film and not painting.

Thats exactly why i like it and i think with better quality it wont feel the same.
You are welcome. : )
:iconleesaf:
What about the quality do you think is bad? It might just be my edit job that was bad, so it might be something I could fix.

I'm not too optimistic, because it was taken with a pos canon pns, and then cropped from there, so that is probably most of the quality issues, but if there is something that is fixable I would be willing to give it a shot at least.

yeah it was for sure the fault of the camera. so there's little you can do.

Nice posturing of the figures. Has a very
'typical' scene I think. But still a nice cap.
